The combination of
ceftazidime avibactam 2.5 gm injection is used with metronidazole (Flagyl) to treat abdominal (stomach area) infections. It is also used to treat pneumonia that people on ventilators or those who were in a hospital have developed, such as kidney and urinary tract infections. It works by killing bacteria. Avibactam belongs to a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from breaking down ceftazidime.
Antibiotics such as
ceftazidime avibactam 2.5 gm will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.
Ceftazidime Avibactam injection uses : –
They present the combination of
ceftazidime avibactam 2g 0.5g injection as a powder that needs to be added to fluid and injected intravenously (into a vein). Usually, it infuses (injects slowly) intravenously over 2 hours every 8 hours.” The length of your treatment depends on your general health, the type of infection you have, and how well you respond to the medication. ceftazidime and avibactam injection You may receive
ceftazidime and avibactam injection at a hospital or you may administer the medication at home. If you will be receiving ceftazidime and avibactam injections at home, your healthcare provider will show you how to use the medication. Be sure that you understand these directions, and ask your healthcare provider if you have any questions.
You should begin to feel better during the first few days of treatment with
ceftazidime and avibactam injection If your symptoms do not improve or get worse, tell your doctor. If you still have symptoms of infection after you finish ceftazidime and avibactam injection, tell your doctor.
Ceftazidime Avibactam side effects: –
Ceftazidime avibactam injection may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- vomiting
- nausea
- diarrhea
- constipation
- stomach pain
- dizziness
- headache
Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately or get emergency medical treatment:
- rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing
- severe diarrhea with watery or bloody stools (up to 2 months after your treatment)
- seizures
- confusion
- sudden muscle twitching or jerking that you cannot control
- hand tremor
- seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist
- coma (loss of consciousness for some time)
ceftazidime avibactam 2.5 gm injection may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any of these problems while using this injection.
