Ceftriaxone (ceftriaxone sodium and dextrose) Injection is an antibacterial drug used to treat conditions such as lower respiratory tract infections, skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial septicemia, bone and joint infections, and meningitis.

Description:

Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Like other third-generation cephalosporin, it has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This is used to treat serious infections, particularly those caused by susceptible strains of Enterobacteriaceae. Sulbactam is a β-lactamase inhibitor. This drug is given in combination with β-lactam antibiotics to inhibit β-lactamase, an enzyme produced by bacteria that destroys the antibiotics. Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with the formation of the bacteria’s cell wall so that the wall ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria. Ceftriaxone for injection USP is a sterile, semisynthetic, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic for intravenous or intramuscular administration.
