Betamethasone, Chloramphenicol & Lignocaine Hydrochloride is a combination of four drugs, namely: Chloramphenicol (antibiotic), Clotrimazole (antifungal), Beclomethasone (steroid), and Lidocaine (local anaesthetic). Chloramphenicol kills the bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for the survival of bacteria. Clotrimazole kills the fungi by breaking down the fungal cell wall/protective covering. Beclomethasone reduces inflammation by blocking the chemical messengers that cause inflammation. Lidocaine decreases pain sensation by blocking the pain signals from the nerves to the brain. Use the dropper provided by the pack to instil the drops into the affected ear. You are advised to use Betamethasone, Chloramphenicol & Lignocaine Hydrochloride for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness and stinging sensation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. Betamethasone, Chloramphenicol & Lignocaine Hydrochloride is not recommended for children as their efficacy and safety have not been established. Please do not touch the tip of the dropper as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put any cotton into the ear after the administration of ear drops.
