 is a combination medicine used to treat severe infections of the heart, lungs, bladder, kidneys, skin, blood, bones, joints, stomach, or female reproductive organs?

It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Cilastatin is a dehydropeptidase I inhibitor that blocks the activity of an enzyme (dehydropeptidase I) that causes the breakdown of Imipenem. Hence, it helps Imipenem stay active in your body for a longer period of time.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use imipenem and cilastatin if you are allergic to imipenem or cilastatin.

•  seizures or epilepsy
•  meningitis
•  a head injury or brain tumor
• kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis); or
• an allergy to any type of antibiotic

• How should I use:-

• upper stomach pain, loss of appetite
• jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
• a seizure (convulsions)
