Description
Esomeprazole (INTE-ZOL 40)
Esomeprazole is used to treat conditions where there is too much acid in the stomach. It is used to treat duodenal and gastric ulcers, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition wherein the stomach produces too much acid.
Allergies
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to this medicine or any other medicines. For non-prescription products, read the label or package ingredients carefully.
Pediatric
Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated pediatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of esomeprazole for GERD in children.
Geriatric
Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated geriatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of esomeprazole in the elderly.
If both medicines are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medicines.

Other Medical Problems
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of this medicine.
- Diarrhea or
- Hypomagnesemia (low magnesium in the blood), history of or
- Osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) or
- Seizures, history of or
- Vitamin B12 deficiency—Use with caution. May make these conditions worse.
- Liver disease, severe—Use with caution.
